How we prove a bead is what we say it is
Everyone in this trade says “100% original”. It is worth nothing on its own. Here is the actual procedure, and what you get with every bead.
The X-ray
Lines can be carved.
Chambers cannot.
A Rudraksha is a seed with separate internal compartments. The number of those compartments equals the number of lines running down the outside of the bead. A genuine eleven mukhi has eleven lines and eleven chambers.
Carving extra lines into a common five mukhi to sell it as an eleven takes a few minutes with a burr. Growing extra chambers takes a different tree. So we X-ray every bead, count the chambers, and reject anything that disagrees with its surface.
The image goes on the bead’s own page, at full size. You are meant to check it yourself before buying, not take our word for the count.

The procedure
What happens to every bead before it is listed

Sorted by hand
Every bead is sorted by face count first, then by diameter in millimetres, then by surface condition.

X-rayed
Each bead is X-rayed and its chambers counted against the lines on its surface. A bead that disagrees is rejected, not graded down.

Left untreated
We do not dye, oil, polish or acid-clean our beads. They are sold as they come from drying and sorting.

Published
The bead’s own X-ray goes on its page, against its lot number, at full size. Not a sample image.
Honest limits
What the X-ray proves, and what it cannot
An X-ray answers one question completely: is this bead the mukhi it claims to be? It does not answer every question, and a seller who says otherwise is overselling it.
It shows
- The number of chambers, and whether it matches the lines on the surface
- Extra lines carved into a cheaper bead
- Two beads ground flat and glued into one
- Cracks that have been filled and polished over
It cannot show
- Origin. Nepali and Indonesian beads both have real chambers
- Dye, oil or polish. Surface treatments do not show on film
- The bead’s age or its harvest year
- Anything about its traditional or spiritual qualities
For origin, ask where and when a bead was harvested. Ours come from our own trees in the Arun Valley. For dye, the home checks work better than any machine.
About certificates
Why we do not send a lab certificate
A certificate is a piece of paper about a bead. You cannot check who wrote it, what they looked at, or whether it describes the bead in your hand.
An X-ray of the bead itself, published on its page before you buy, is something you can check. So that is what we give you, and we back it with a refund rather than a stamp.

If any bead you buy from us is ever shown by an independent lab not to be what we said it was, we refund the full purchase price.

What people ask
- What does the X-ray actually prove?
- That the number of internal chambers matches the number of lines on the surface. Lines can be carved onto a cheaper bead in minutes; chambers cannot be added at all. It is the only test that settles the question outright.
- Do you provide a lab certificate?
- No. We X-ray every bead ourselves, against its lot number, and publish that X-ray on the bead’s page. We do not issue a third-party lab certificate, and we would rather say so than hand you a paper from a lab you cannot check.
- What does the lifetime authenticity guarantee cover?
- If any bead you buy from us is ever shown by an independent lab not to be what we said it was, we refund the full purchase price, with no time limit. It covers authenticity and mukhi count. It does not cover normal wear, or outcomes from wearing the bead.
- Can I see the X-ray before I order?
- Yes. Every bead’s X-ray is on its own page. If you are asking about a mukhi or size that is not listed, ask us and we will send the X-ray with the quote.
- Do you energise the beads?
- Beads are energised on request before dispatch, and the date is recorded against the lot. If you would rather do it yourself, or have your own priest do it, say so when you order and we will send it unenergised.
